The ARM Motorsports MK6 GLI FMIC Kit enhances the power and torque of your 2.0T engine by reducing intake air temperatures and increasing air density. The turbocharger propels compressed air, heated by the GLI’s 2.0 T engine exhaust gases, leading to elevated temperatures. Warmer air, holding less oxygen than cooler air in the same volume, limits engine performance.

The ARM FMIC intercooler is the solution, strategically placed to extract hot air from the turbo, cooling it before reintroducing it to the engine at the most efficient location. Unlike typical OEM-style intercoolers, this design is a true front mount, positioned at the forefront of the 2.0T engine’s radiator stack.

This placement ensures the intercooler is directly exposed to the coolest air, situated in the opening of the GLI front bumper, resulting in significant horsepower gains. Unlike twin cooler setups, this FMIC eliminates the need for the OEM intercooler entirely. Users have the option to leave the OEM intercooler disconnected or remove it entirely using our OEM Intercooler Delete Kit.

The removal of the OEM intercooler facilitates increased airflow through the radiator bundle, enhancing the cooling efficiency for coolant, oil, and transmission fluid.

Generally, the larger an intercooler is the better it is at lowering the temperature of the charged air from the turbo before it reached the throttle body. However, if an intercooler is too large, it can cause an adverse pressure drop, increasing turbo lag. Because the ARM Intercooler is located in front of the other radiators on the car it can cool the charged air more effectively than larger intercoolers in the OEM location. This is why the ARM Motorsports FMIC core size of 23.5″ x 6.5″ x 3″ is the perfect balance for maximizing cooling efficiency while minimizing pressure drop.
