The 5w-30 BMW oil is approved for almost all BMW engines. except for Diesel and some M models. Starting with the 2015 model year BMW changed from a 5w-30 weight to 0w-20 and 0w-30. BMW continues to sell the 5w-30 and says it is a acceptable alternative to the 0w-20 and 0w-30 oils.
