The 2015 version of the standard is considered the beginning of a new era in the development of quality management systems. The 2015 revision focuses on performance by combining the process approach with risk-based thinking and employing the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle at all organizational levels. Although the standards scope has not changed, the structure and core terms were modified to allow for easier integration with other international management system standards.
